Some of you may be aware of or have seen the news about the changes happening in the real estate industry. The NAR class action suit changed the way agents operate. I’m here to explain why they matter to you. If you are buying or selling a home, these new rules mean that agent representation is more important than ever before selling a home. One of the major changes is that Realtors can no longer display or tell other agents what commission they’ll be earning for bringing a buyer to our properties. However, there are ways to incentivize agents. Sellers can still attract great agents by offering concessions that buyers can use to pay their agents. There are many tactics to do this, which is why you should have an experienced Realtor on your side.

You want to hire someone who understands these changes and helps you have an unfair advantage when it comes to selling your home. If you are buying a home, you now need to sign a buyer representation agreement with your agent. Think of it like signing a contract when retaining an attorney or a letter of engagement if you’re hiring a CPA. This agreement is now mandatory with agents. This means that you shouldn’t just work with any agent. Look for agents with experience, a great track record, and the skills to help you achieve your goals. I understand that these changes matter to all of us, and they only aim to make the real estate process fairer and more transparent. As your Realtor, I’m always here to guide you and give you an advantage in the market.
